The Virtual DNS System was developed by SmartServers and is far superior to the DNS "aliases" offered by other providers. SmartServers is the only provider in the industry to give our clients access to true Virtual DNS Servers.

SmartServers vDNS Servers give you the ability to register and provide name service for as many domains as you like using your own name servers (NS1&NS2.YourName.com).

You will have complete control over your own DNS, including the ability to carry out immediate updates to your own domain zone files, the freedom to add sub-domains and mx records and the ability to repoint your domains in an instant with only a few simple commands or via an easy to use Web Interface Control Panel (Login as "admin" with password "testpass")

The SmartSmartservers range of Virtual Dedicated (VDS) Servers are the only Virtual Servers in the world to offer this unique feature.

The vDNS Servers will not only support .com, .net and .org names all other worldwide domains such as .au, .uk, .nz, .de, .br, .es, .fr, etc.

vDNS Servers are available as an add-on to all of the SmartServers Virtual Servers or on a stand-alone basis.

A "stand-alone" basis means that you have the vDNS Servers only (NS1&2.YourName.com) and they are not an add-on to an existing or future Virtual Server you have with us.

With the vDNS system there is no knowledge of BIND required as your name servers are completely set up and pre-configured and we provide an easy to use Web Interface Control Panel (Login as "admin" with password "testpass") and a suite of 7 software tools that allow you to add, delete, re-point and add sub-domains, mx records, etc. at any time by using only a few simple commands via telnet.

The vDNS can be used to create an unlimited number of sub-domains (ie: http://subdomain.yourdomain.com) under any of the domains you host and it will still only count as one domain towards the capacity of your vDNS.
